What is gum paste glue? The stuff you use to stick your bow pieces and some flowers together. Do you buy this or make it? TIA

I have heard that you can make "glue" by stirring some of the soft gumpaste and a little water together until it is the consistency of paste. It will harden when it dries and it holds pieces of gumpaste together. I believe you can also use some meringue powder mixed with water to do the same thing.

Good luck.

You can make gum glue using 1/4 teaspoon of gumpaste and 1 tablespoon of water. Take the gumpaste and tear it into little pieces and put it in the water and stir. After about 30 minutes or so, you will have a nice "glue" to use to stick your bow together or for attaching fondant pieces to a fondant covered cake.
Have fun.

Gum Glue
1 cup boiling water
1/2 heaping teaspoon Tylose Powder

Sprinkle Tylose over water, give a quick stir and allow to set overnight. Next day stir, remove any lumps and pour glue into a clean glass jar with a lid. I use new nail polish bottles available at beauty supply, the brush applicator is perfect for brushng on small amounts of glue. Keep refrigerated, will last for about 6 months. After that it begins to mold, throw away and make a new batch.

Can somebody please explain what Tylose is and is it available at stores like Michaels, or do you have to buy it online? Thanks!
