Im not sure what this machine is called but I notice many bakeries using it to designed pictures on their cakes. I believe u can print or get a photo of ie; a car etc & then take that and imprint it on your cake.

Just wondering about any information anyone has on this, ie; how it works, costs etc or even other ideas(cheaper) to do the same thing.

Love to hear what u r doing?

As always thanx for your help.
Paul

Do you mean edible imaging Paul? This is where a picture/photo/graphic is printed onto edible paper (frosting sheets) using an inkjet printer and cartridges filled with edible ink. That can then be applied to cakes.

The only machine you'd need would be a new compatible inkjet printer like the Canon iP3000 or iP1500 ($50-100). This is a regular inkjet printer that is fitted with cartridges filled with edible ink rather than standard ink. You can find both the edible ink cartridges and the edible paper (frosting sheets) at the link Doug provided www.kopykake.com

I havent checked that website yet.

This might sound stupid though but how do u transfer the copied picture(with edible ink) after printing, onto the cake.

Thanks so much!

The picture is printed onto a type of edible paper called a frosting sheet. A frosting sheet is like a thin layer of dried frosting pressed onto a plastic backing. After you print the picture, you peel the sheet from the backing and apply it to the surface of the frosted cake. With most frostings (best with buttercream), the sheet will meld right into the frosting leaving the image on the surface of the cake.
