Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knows a technique for getting a cracked/crackle effect on fondant (sort of like cracked leather). Earlene Moore has a beautiful wedding cake that has this effect. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks!

hmmm . . .seems like that's what my fondant sometimes does all be itself . . . lol.

maybe letting it sit for a few minutes to start it drying before laying it on the cake, and "smoothing" it onto the cake but not "getting it smooth in terms of worrking about the cracking a slightly dry fondant might do. Then if you use petal dust in a brown and a tiny bit of pearl I think you'd get a leathery effect.

not sure if I'm explaining that well or not.

I'm not sure which cake on Earlene's site you're referring to? You can paint diluted food coloring gel on the cake and sponge it off for a worn leather look. The Bible on my Communion cake was done like that. But this might not be what you're looking for?
