I just got an email from a colleague of my sisters, and she wants to know what a full sheet half white and half chocolate would cost, decorated for a new teenager (13)..."something teenage, like phones" would cost. How big is a full sheet? Is a 9x13 a half sheet, so I could use 2 of those? How many servings is that? From what I could find, it looks like around 72 or so, and even if I only charge $1 per, we are talking around $75 for a birthday cake.... is that right? Seems pricey to me, but then I always make my own....any help appreciated!

Can't help you with the price, but I think a 9x13 is a 1/4 sheet, so you'd need 4 for a full sheet.

Bonjovibabes right about the size. 9x13 is a 1/4 sheet. As far as pricing, call up your grocery stores and bakeries. Find what they charge and stay in the middle or so for simple stuff. For more details charge more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and bonjovibabe, I'm an 80's girl and the joke with everybody is that I married the guy I did because he's a clone of Jon Bon Jovi only with hazel eyes. I can't tell you how many times he's been mistaken and the women are obnoxious. Good thing I'm not the jealous type or I'd be crazy. When I'm mad at him, I tell him to just sit there and look pretty. ha ha

Go to the Cake Decorating Business forum and look at "my Price List" which was just posted a bit ago. That may help you a lot. Good luck with the cake!

don't compare your prices to a grocery store - compare yourself to a custom bakery. The grocery stores aren't anywhere NEAR as tasty as what comes out of most of our kitchens, and the quality of the work isn't (in my humble opinion) that great. It is mass production for the masses - you're doing a custom cake.
