Hi. I would like to know if there is someone in the Detroit Metro area who would be looking for a decorator apprencice. I've had Wilton classes 1-3 and have mades cakes for friends/family, but would like to gain more knowledge and work experience.

Welcome aboard, rialynn!

Finding an apprecience job is hard to find especially not coming from any culinary school. I, myself, was in the same shoes as you. I took Wilton classes and I didn't have any luck in finding any cake shops to hire me, so I went ahead and applied for a cake decorator job in one of our major grocer chain. I got the job and they pay me well. I learned so much from them, which I'm grateful.

If you are a culinary student or plan to be one, you shouldn't have any problem finding apprecience position anywhere.

Hope this helps. icon_smile.gif

I would just call around and ask people if they need an apprentice. I would definitely try Michelle Bommarito because I know she has had apprentices before but I don't know if she still does that. I think she is in Farmington Hills. You can get her number off her website or email her (website is www.michellebommarito.com).
HTH,
Heather
