I don't know what happened I've made MMF 1000 times and now this time I add color and it is sticking and breaking I can't get it to nead out and if I get a little neaded it will tear when I pick it up to flip. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif


What do I do or can do to fix this? and What did I do wrong?



This is going to be another late night for me, more like breaking night grrrrr! icon_cry.gif

Did you add a gel color or a liquid color?
Have you added more powdered sugar?
Did you let it sit for a couple of hours after you made it?

Sometimes if my MMF gets sticky I have to just set it aside for a little while and let it sit. It might be too warm or humid.

It had time to sit two days, i used both gel and powder coloring.

Maybe I didn't use enough sugar?

But what can I do to make it work? icon_redface.gif

Did you knead some more sugar in to it? Are you rolling it out thick enough? If you roll it out too thin it will break.
Do you have your surface and your hands covered in crisco?
Did you over heat your marshmallows when you melted them?

Sorry, I am just asking all of the questions to narrow things down. icon_smile.gif

Thats ok amybeth, yes I put more sugar, I use criso on rolling pin and work area, and it starts cracking be I could even get it thin.



Or maybe it is becuase i tried the new mmf recipe using the fluff instead of heating the marshmellows. But I don't think anyone else had a problem with the new recipe. icon_confused.gif

I have actually heard of quite a few people having difficulty with that recipe.
That is why I haven't tried it. icon_sad.gif Sorry!

DARN!!!!!!!!

Well if I make another batch of mmf the original way how long does it have to rest I thought it was for 24 hours but I think I read some one said an hour, do you know this to be true?

I found that if it is cracking that I flash it in the microwave for a bit. Cracking sounds like a dryness issue? I use pan coat also but sometimes too much sugar can be doing this.

No problem, I think my daughter just woke up from her nap though, so I have to tear myself away. icon_smile.gif

I have let mine rest anywhere from 2 hours to 24. I think it needs time to cool.
