I was reading several different post yesterday about the "new" crisco and I don't understand what is so new about it? I know the new package says O grms Trans Fat but when I got home and looked at all my "old" packages of Crisco they say O grms Trans Fat so I don't understand what is different other than they are maketing it different now.

Could someone explain, maybe I am missing something...

Thanks!

Some of the "new" Crisco was packaged in the old syle cans. So you probably have one of them. Then they changed the can to have a green lid. I thought I hit a gold mine at Wal Mart when I found some old style cans behind the new green lid ones, but when looking at the ingredients I found it was trans fat free.

I just talked to the people at Crisco and they started making the switch in September 2006 but the new labels are just now coming out. I let them know about this website and that a lot of people were complaining about having problems with their frostings and they said to email them with your complaints so they know how the changes are effecting everyone. I told her it would be nice if they would offer both kinds of shortening so we have a choice and she said she would pass that along.

So sent them your emails and maybe some changes could be made.

I've been watching these Crisco changes. Apparently it is now made with fully hydrogenated oil, instead of just partially hydrogenated oil. There is still some partially hydrogenated oil which means there is still some trans fat, but just less than the .5% required to be reported by the US gov. Anywho, I am nervous about all the posts stating that people are having trouble using the new formula! What to use?!
