Can anyone help with this one please .......... ![]()
My dear x hubby has made a $100 challange (i.e bet) that I cant do a chocolate fudge cake flavored with red wine!!!! ![]()
Normally I just use the Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix.....he loves it. ![]()
But if I substitute the oil for just red wine I am worried the cake will be to dry.............. can I just add an extra egg or is there something else I need to do?
I thought I had read something about this but I cant seem to find it. ![]()
Please help as this is the first time I have ever been worried about losing a challange set by him!! ![]()

Thanks in advance ![]()
I've never done it, but I think I would replace the water called for in the instructions and keep the oil. Of course, I am not sure what is added to Betty Crocker mix ( I only use Duncan Hines mixes). Aside from that, I think maybe I would drizzle some of the wine onto the baked cake (like they do with simple syrup and liquers sometimes). Sorry I couldn't help more definitively
Good Luck ![]()
Cheat and use a dessert wine! Sweet and some are almost syrupy.
