Just mix it with a small amout of drinking alcohol. You need to clean your air brush right away or it can get clogged.

It depends on how much luster you want. If you were usung super peral the more dust the more pearlized it will be. There is no exact measurement to this just play around! The more thick and molten the heavier. The more watery looking it will give a hint of sparkle to it.If you are going for a complete coating you can just paint it on. I only paint it on if it is gold.

Does that mean you can't airbrush gold?

No You can but everything that I do gold are tiaras and filigree/borders. The one thing I do advise is to do out side. I have a sparkly kitchen!

I'm not an expert on it, but I can tell you what I think from my experince.

I usually use around two or three capfulls of Everclear to a half teaspoon of dust. It works better to have a thinner miture for me, though I will go over something several times to get it darker if I want it darker. I think if you have it too thick it can clog up the airbrush while using it. I usually mix it in a shot glass then use an eye dropper to put it in the airbrush cup.

I have gotten a big box that I have put cakes in to airbrush before to try to keep the dusts in the air more contained. I have also used plastic or cut open trash bags to lay over the countertops to help with clean up.

If you can't get Everclear in your area, gin or vodka will work. You want a clear alcohol with a high alcohol content.

I still take the cake on the deck. I have tried spraying in a box and if you look up into my lights you can still see sparkles all over. It also gets in my contacts too.

You certainly can airbrush gold. I prefer to put more than one thin layer on...but it definitely does work. The stars on my "Dream Baby" cake in my gallery were airbrushed gold.

Have anyone tried spraying silk flowers with the dust? I have a wedding to do and she wants gold roses. Should I buy the white roses or cream color to get the best effect?

Real spray paint might adhere better to silk.
