Imagine August In Phx, AZ 112 degree's outside. There is a cake that is covered with non-dairy whipped topping. Can the cake have some BC and royal icing decorations put on it? Will they stay on it?
Thanks.
The Royal icing is the only icing mentioned that I would trust in the AZ heat, the Non-dairy & the buttercream will likely melt right off of it.
If this is a paying gig and they insist on it being outside, make sure they sign a waiver and that you relinquish all responsibility for what happens the second you walk out the door, because they are likely going to be enjoying cake soup in an hour or so. ![]()
That being said...cake is my 2nd favorite soup (not so much for grilled cheese dipping). ![]()

The event is inside. I am just wondering how to transport this cake without it melting.
I am a caterer by trade, and we top our desserts with non dairy whipped topping and I've seen it melt in minutes in michigan 85 degree heat, is this the icing requested or could you use something more stable? And have you cosidered icing it on site and then adding your pre made decorations.
