I'm taking a class on Monday from a fellow CCer on making critters -- I think we're doing a big fat frog, a penguin, a teddy bear and I forget what the other thing is. I can't wait! icon_biggrin.gif

the name of the book is called " two-hour party cakes" ( let me just say...ya right!!!!!!lol!!!! it's by Carol Deacon. i picked it up at chapters for 19.95$ ( can). it's awesome cause it gives you step by step instructions and the amounts of mmf you need. that was my problem, i tryed to make a fondant figure awhile back but the head was to big..arm to short..etc. in this book it tells you the amounts you need for all the body parts...i love it!!! gonna go back next week and see if they have any other books!!

My Wilton instructor told me to get a clay figurine book from Michael's she said you would be amazed at all the things one of those books can show you how to do and I don't think they are very expensive. Not to mention Michael's has a 40% off coupon almost every week icon_smile.gif

vrmcc1,
Just wanted to say thanks for mentioning that Debbie Brown site. I was familiar with one of her books but had no idea how MANY she had done.
I spent half an hour looking at all her cakes and was blown away!!!
It would be so cool to plan a trip to the UK for one of her many classes. ( check out the one she teaches on May 30th-31st. The cake is incredible.)
Anyone interested???!!! icon_lol.gif

I am too. I love making figures way more than the rest of the cake.
I usually do them from my head, but I agree that polymer clay books are the best source of figures. I look at them or online for inspiration.
