I just used rolled buttercream on cookies. Has anyone used it on cakes instead of fondant? If so, do you need to use regular buttercream underneath like w/ fondant? don't know if I want to do this or not, but wanted to hear from the experts!!! I'm doing a cake for someone who doesn't want fondant, but the look of the rolled bc will work well.

Thanks!!!

Absolutely! I have only used it on cakes. I would do a light crumb coat on the cake before you put it on. Just remember that rolled BC is stretchier than fondant, so be careful when placing it on. Though I also find that it is a lot easier to fix rips in the icing thank fondant is.

I use all the time as well, just a light crum coat of regular BC....

FYI....

It is a bit more greaser, not quite the same consistancy as fondant
