I know there has probably already been a post about this, but I didn't really see one.
Here is the thing. I am flying out to CO to surprise my best friend for her Baby Shower. And I have been asked to make her cake. So I am sending a few of my supplies out so they will be ready for me when I get there. I am wondering if I print out an edible image for the cake and put it in a ziplock bag, will it be o.k? I have tried printing in advance before, but by the time I went to use the image, it was dry. Any advice? I will be sending my stuff out overnight, and can either put the image in with my supplies or take it on the plane with me. Not sure which would be better. I know before I bought my system, I would order images on-line and they were sent to me in a bag and were just fine. So I don't know why when I tried it they dried out.
Sorry for such a long post for a simple question. My mind is just going 100 mph
It should work either way. But I think I'd take the image w/me, just in case they lose your luggage or something bizarre like that. Also the storage area is probably extremely hot & the images are best kept in a cooler area. I almost always print my images at least 2-3 days in advance, sometimes more.
And you just put the image in a large freezer bag? nothing else.
I did change the frosting sheets I was using. I was using the ones from Icing Images, but the last time I ordered from Sugarcraft. They seem to be allot thicker than the ones from Icing images.
I think I will print one out tonight and seal it up. Then take it out in a few days and see how it goes.
Thanks for the adivce. I will definatly take it on the plane with me. Didn't think about the heat situation.
The ones from II are PhotoFrost and they are thinner and dry out more quickly. The ones from Sugarcraft are Kopykake brand. That's the brand I use. They're thicker and take longer to dry out...stay moist and flexible much longer. The frosting sheet should be fine stored in a large, heavy-duty ziploc bag. Be sure to check it for leaks. Try to keep the image stored flat like between a couple pieces of cardboard and you shouldn't have any problems.
