I am hosting a graduation cookout this weekend. The graduate has requested a 3 tier cake. I would like to display this cake, but I do not want any bugs or anything to that nature landing on it. Does anyone have any idea as to a cover I can make to drape over the cake, but the cake can still be seen. I know that there are a lot of talented people on this site and I am sure you all have very good ideas. Please help.

What kind of frosting are you going to be using on the cake? I would suggest maybe some tulle which you can get at your local craft store.

I remembered seeing this cake here done by daviscakes:

The tulle is one of those bed canopys that are on sale almost everywhere.

If you could hang it from something...it just might work out nice.

yeah thats what i was gonna suggest.......they are mosquito netting(canopy) Ive seen many on sale some are small thou so make sure you have one that would fit the table....and cake.....for instance the ones at walmart are narrow...but average about $15.00 ......pierone has one thats a real good size but for $50.00 seems a little much for soemthing that is not gonna always be used... maybe you can get a hoola hoop and attach the tulle for a similar but inexpensive look......

Thanks everyone for your wonderfull ideas. I used a plastic square picnic table which was almost the size of the cake table and sat it on top of the table that was holding the cake. Purchased two large pieces of tulle from the fabric store (this was to allow for me to have an opening so that when it was time to cut the cake I pulled the tulle back and clipped each piece to the side) I draped one piece of tulle on each side of the picnic table and I let it hang down about three inches past the cake table. I used silk flowers on top of the picnic table and the vines from the silk flowers hung down on all four sides. It really came out pretty, and guests liked it. My daughter took a picture, but found out that someone had removed the film from the camera and did not replace a new roll. I will see if someone else took pictures and if they did, I will place on web site. Also I used for the first time the cake mix extender recipe for the cake. It was wonderful. Whoever came up with that recipe thanks so much. Everyone loved it. Thanks so much for everything.
