Here is a pic of one of Colette's Cakes (http://www.colettescakes.com/wedding_cc.html#). How do I get this color? It is KILLING me that I don't know! I don't even know how to describe this color! TIA!
Is that ivory? Okay, thanks. I will get some and try it out. I love this antiqued look.
I would classify this color as "tea-dyed linen"
Try adding a little brown and an even littler amount of pink. The decorations seem to be a tad deeper than the base icing, no?
I think that they are a little deeper. I wasn't sure if that was the lighting or something. I suppose that they could be adding effects to the picture to enhance that color, too.
To obtain Ivory - I start with a white icing & add the tiniest amount of brown! =) Remember that the color will become more rich over time, so maybe see what the crumb coat looks like after it sets. I haven't seen an ivory food coloring, but I have't checked online either. Good luck!
It really doesn't look that much like ivory to me, I think ivory has more yellow in it. I like the description of "tea-dyed linen". It looks more like a pale taupe to me. I'm thinking that a tiny bit of brown with a dab of pink would probably be the way I'd try, too.
Good luck, let us know how you make out.
Edited to say: You will also have to take into account whether your icing has butter in it. That will give it a bit of a yellow cast to start with.

Wow, my ivory never looks like that! Mine comes out more yellow. I guess it might be the butter in my recipe.
That's so cool that you can call or email Colette and get your answers.
Thanks for posting that, mrsjah.
