To color RI with a deep color such as brown, do I substitute the color for any of the liquid or add later?
Thanks!!

What type of coloring are you using? One of the ladies that runs the local cake store said if you have a more liquid coloring you can always add it to a bit of ps to make sure it doesn't change the consistency of icing.

Americolor. I've only done ri in white, but I saw it used in very dark brown in Martha Stewart's Wedding Issue. Very pretty.

I've made black RI with Americolor, and added the color after mixing the icing. I didn't need to adjust at all, because the Super Black was so concentrated. If you need to use more, with a less intense coloring (or a liquidier coloring), you would probably want to make it with a touch less liquid and then add the color.

I doubt that you'd need to decrease the liquid by much at all.
