I am doing a graduation cake this weekend. Two tiers (12", 8" squares) with a very simply white BC decor and black and white checked ribbon for the bottom tiers' borders. They would like the top of the cake monogrammed. Now, i like dimension so i would like to see a stand-up monogram.... does anyone have any suggestions? should i use chocolate and make the letters? should i cut and try some fondant and put the letters on that? any and all suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks!

I would suggest using gumpaste if you want one to stand up, make sure you give yourself enough time for it to dry. I've also made a plaque out of chocolate and then wrote on it in chocolate. After it dried I went over the writing in gold luster dust. I made a "V" shaped stand (like a picture stand) and put the plaque on that on top of the cake. Hope that makes sense! Good luck!

Okay, I know that people have done monograms like what's on the cake in the pic. I can't find one right now, but I know I've seen it on here. Maybe you could find whoever did this one and as how the did it.
