Ok,--I have tried to make FBCT but for some reason we just don't get alone. I had a thought and this is my question. Can you take a picture, coloring page or something that is already colored, put it on an ediable image and then decorate as if it were a transfer?
Thanks for any advice
I've thought about this before as well. I think it's a great idea.
I've seen where people 'embellish' their edible images - I can't see why you couldn't just use it as a guide basically, and fill it in completely.
I think this would be particularly useful for large images (since they're so difficult to do as a FBCT) and for really detailed images.
Definitely! I have done it twice, once with the Raingutter Regatta cake in my photos and once with a Fire Dept. Patch cake I did (not in my photos but it covered the whole top of a 14" round). I just buy the plain wafer paper and place it over the photo or picture and trace it. Then I cut it out, put it on the cake and fill it in. It is super easy and you get great results.
Good Luck,
Heather
I have to say that this is something I have never thought of before. I am now super excited because I too can't seem to get the hang of the FBCT. I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to make it work.
My question is, where do you buy wafer paper? And secondly, what do you use to trace it?
I'm guessing this is the method that I would have to use because I do not have the printer that does the edible images.
Thanks!
Brandi
I purchase my wafer paper at sugarcraft.

I like using frosting sheets though because they dissolve in the bc frosting and you'd never know they were there.
You can use edible ink markers to trace out your design if you don't have a printer.
ok, what are frosting sheets? do you mean fbct? or is wafer paper the same as a frosting sheet? sorry, i'm clueless! ![]()
Frosting sheets and wafer paper are different types of edible "paper".
Frosting sheets are like thin layers of dried frosting pressed onto a plastic backing. They dissolve into buttercream frosting leaving whatever image you create on the surface of a cake.
Wafer paper is a starch-based edible paper that's thinner and more trasparent than frosting sheets. Wafer paper dissolves in water.
Both can be used to trasfer an image/drawing to a cake by either printing on them with an inkjet printer and cartridges filled with edible ink or drawing on them with edible markers. You can also airbrush or paint on them.
