Simple Question...almost Embarrassed To Ask!

Say you have a 12" round and a 10" round Then there is a layer of silk flowers in between the two cakes. How do I do this? Do I use pillars to seperate the cakes then fill in with the flowers? See I knew this was easy, and I probably just answered my own question. But I need to make sure since this is for my fair cake entry.
Thanks ![]()
The gap between the two layers should not be very wide..Almost the same width as that of the flowers you are putting in between..
I would use plastic pillars, w/ a separator for your flowers to rest on. ![]()
When I need a gap for flowers, I use Wilton's hidden pillars.
see them here: http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E3119F0-475A-BAC0-5772682F766C019C&fid=63EB9DA7-475A-BAC0-522158B536D3E04A
They're six inches tall, so on most cakes will give you about two inches clearance - but you can trim them if you need less.
Yep, you answered your own question!!! You need to believe you know more than you're giving yourself credit for!!!!!!!
Of course there are a variety of pillars you could use. I believe there are some you wouldn't be able to see if you don't want them showing. I'm not sure what they're called but I think Wilton makes them.
I hope it all works out for you and I hope you do very well at the fair!!! Don't forget to upload a photo here too for us to see!!!!!

That is what Cake Central is for. To aid in clarifying your question.
Yes, you basically use a separator system for your row of flowers. There is the tall tier setup that has a center column with plates. There are the 'hidden' pillars that you push into the cake and then attach to a separator plate. These two ways, you won't see the pillars/columns. You will just see the ring of flowers.
Hope that helps.
