I use a homemade cake release on my pans. I love the ease of getting the cake out of the pan, but my frustration lies in the pastry brush. I can't seem to find one that doesn't lose it's bristles all the time. I always double check my pan before I put the batter in, but I'm scared I'm going to miss one and someone find it and think it's a hair. Does anyone know of a decent brand pastry brush? By the way, I always handwash my brushes, I never put them in the dishwasher.

I was having the same exact problem with my PC one. DM picked me up a couple silicone ones and they're fantastic for greasing pans thumbs_up.gif

Do you know where you can buy those? I, too, make my own cake release (and also love it!) and have the same problem with the bristles.

I found silicone pastry brushes at Walmart. This is exactly why I bought them! They are wonderful, just put it in dishwasher when done.

I've seen them at Walmart. You could prob find them at any large store that carries kitchen supplies. They've become really popular.

Wilton also has one out that you should be able to find at Michaels.

I had the same problem w/regular pastry brush. I bought a silicone brush at Kitchen Collection after reading an older post. It's WONDERFUL.

Lol i was always told if you ever use a pastry brush for any butter or fat to never use it for anything else but that. Useful yet so unuseful. Lol I LOVe silicon pastry brushes, work nicely and easy to clean! thumbs_up.gif
