I would suggest a crusting bc and then use piping gel as glue to adhere the accents!

I had the same question, was going to ask. I have 20 cakes for a wedding in Sept and am planning on doing BC with fondant accents (so I can make them in advance).

dodibug- do you put them on before the BC crusts?

I have always put them on after it crusts and I get my cake smooth then I add the accents.

If you want your accents to stay soft until you are ready to put them on the cake you can keep them in an airtight container between layers of plastic wrap.

so then what is a good crusting BC.I HATE wilton classBC,my favorite frosting(TASTE SO FAR)is the FBCT recipe, not sure if its good enough crusting for fondant accents though icon_confused.gif I have been thinking of trying buttercream dream recipe, does that crust well?

The bc dream seems to have lots of butter like the one for the fbct so I'm purely guessing at this point but I wonder if you added a couple fo tblsp of meringue powder if that would get it to crust. Hhmmmmm.

icon_redface.gif-msthang, that's very sweet!

well I had wonderd the same thing,I guess I would just have to make a batch to find out icon_lol.gif if butter is the culprit for not crusting well, than BC dream would crust a little better than FBCT since has 2 sticks not ?!?!?!?!
