I am just wondering if I can put on gumpaste/fondant flowers on cookies for decoration and have people eat them. I don't want anyone to break a tooth. I know they get really hard. So has anyone ever used gumpaste flowers on their cookies?
I just put fondant on cookies this past weekend and it as fine. I didn't have problems. Gumpaste I am not sure. Heres a bump to hopefully get you the answer.
Fondant yes, gumpaste no. Fondant will turn hard on a cookie, granted, but it is edible. Gumpaste, while technically edible, eating it is not advised. Hope that helps some! ![]()
What kind of gumpaste flowers are you want on your cookies? If your are worried about the hardness of gumpaste why not use candy clay? You won't get the thinnes of gumpaste but they would be edible.
I have never used candy clay before. I used royal icing flowers on some cookies I did a while ago but I wanted something more professional looking. Clean cut.
If you're going for clean cut, I recommend fondant. Candy clay is also an option, but having just worked with both of them just today I can tell you the easiest would be fondant. ![]()
