Hi all.

I know it has been asked before but I can not find the answer. I usually use just the bought circles covered in fancy aluminum foil. What else can I use to cover cake boards that may compliment the cake a little more?

Thanks!

Use any wrapping paper you want and then cover with clear contact paper.

I had a small western themed wedding and I had 2 horseshoe cakes at the sides of the main cake. I covered the boards in a brown vinyl and it looked great!!!! As soon as I get my digital camera figured out, I will upload some photos

Yes, [like Kittiskakes said], I went to the dollar store and stocked up on several different wrapping papers. You will always have a color or pattern for any cake theme.

It is adhesive backed. Like what you can line your cabinets with.

I like to use wrapping paper covered with contact paper too. I also like to use colorful melamine plates that match the theme of the cake as well. I like to find those at the dollar store or on clearance at Kohls icon_biggrin.gif !

I cover mine in freezer paper with the shiny side out. Then I get scrapbooking stickers or punch outs and put them on the board and cover it in cellophane. The nice thing is I have had a few customers return the boards!

I've used everything from silk rose petals to silk greenery covered with clear contact paper.
For others I also use covered wrapping paper to match the theme and I agree the dollar store is the best find for it!

I have only used the foil to cover my boards but am anxious to use wrapping paper. In reading different sites, it refers to covering with food safe cellophane. Is the contact paper better for this purpose?

Thanks

I like the contact paper covering because it wipes clean, and if you are lucky enough to get your boards back, it can be reused.
