You were right the first time there are 9 cups sifted powders sugar in a 2 lb bag so 1 lb is 4 1/2 cups if sifted it is a weight measure 16 ounces + 1 pound

Where you went wrong is a liquid measure of 8 ounces = 1 cup

so 16 ounces of liquid is 2 cups but that is not weight like powdered sugar.

How many cups powdered sugar did you use? if you used only 2 cups instead of 4 it will be too soft for your flowers tonight.

Thanks for clarifying this msmeg! After I logged off the computer I thought about what I typed and I do remember using 4 cups of powdered sugar as 1 pound. I contradicted myself. icon_redface.gif
