I need everyone's help on this one. I am in the planning stages of a very large wedding cake for a close friend. (Cake is due in August) There will be 11 cakes, (5 6" 2 layer, 3 8" l2 layer, 2 10" 2 layer, and a 12" 2 layer).

What can I use to store the cakes in?

My home fridge is just a normal size. I don't have a deep freezer, and my cakes don't typically need refridgeration. (Although i do it anyway because I have a kitten and two little boys) I thought about putting the main cake in the fridge, but I want something to store the little guys in. Maybe something sturdy enough to stack?

Sorry so long, I need help!!! icon_sad.gif

If push comes to shove, see if you can rent a fridge or freezer (space permitting). I can't think of anything stackable.

Where is she having the wedding/reception? Would they let you store it there?

i wouldn't trust storing it at the reception site this far in advance even if they would let you. Do you have family in the area? would they let you store layers in their freezer? I used to do that for my neighbor whenever she bought lots of food for the holidays.

My local pizza shop lets me use space when I need it. How about your Church? Do you have a rec center nearby?
Good Luck,

If your cakes do not need refrigeration, maybe putting them in plastic storage bins with lids would work.
They would be stackable and reusable. You could also potentially use them to deliver the cakes, but I would put some of those non-skid mats under the cakes to prvent them from sliding around in the boxes.

I used to own a yogurt store, and I allowed a company to use my fridge for their pre-made meals that customers in the area would pick up. They gave me a percentage of the sale. I had plenty of space, and their orders weren't that large. Check with some non-franchised companies/restaurants in your area.
