i see there's tons in the recipe section. Can anyone tell me which they have tried and loved? This is for a cake for work. I want to fill it with raspberry filling - iced in Buttercream or white chocolate buttercream.
(looking for that recipe too)
oooh something that's nice, not too sweet or overly chocolate how some people describe it.
thanks!

This is the chocolate cake recipe I use and people love it.
Chocolatetown Special Cake

½ cup Cocoa Powder
½ cup boiling water
2/3 cup shortening
1 ¾ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 ¼ cup flour
½ teaspoons baking soda
1 1/3 cups buttermilk or sour milk
(to sour milk, use 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon white vinegar plus milk to equal 1 1/3 cup)
Heat oven to 350. In a small bowl stir together boiling water and cocoa powder and set aside. In large mixer bowl, beat shortening, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Add to shortening mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Blend in cocoa powder mixture, beat well.

I've use the 'Darn Good Chocolate Cake' recipe from CC and people seem to really like it. icon_smile.gif

Kat,
After looking around and trying several recipes for that "wow" chocolate cake, I came up with this....

Duncan Hines Swiss Chocolate cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 packet of Dream Whip

Blend together on slow speed about 30 seconds. Mix at medium for at least 5 minutes total (I scrap the bowl after 2 minutes). Bake at 350 until done - depending on cake pan size.

It's always a favorite. Good luck in your search!

I have used this so many times and people LOVE IT and request it again and again. If you are carving though exclude the chocolate chips or you'll end up with difficulty in cutting with clean lines as the chips tend to rip the cake when trying to carve it.

pretty much you can use just about any butter cream recipe and for a regular batch of butter cream I just melt and add 4 oz. of melted white chocolate to the butter cream after it is finished mixing all ingredients and then add melted chocolate and mix just enough to blend. icon_biggrin.gif
