Need More Help W/ Peacock

*Base of the cake will be a pillow cake. Never done one of these, iced in buttercream. Needs to feed 50.

*Peacock dilemma: I have made the head feathers out of gumpaste (done)

*Will use real feathers for the fan tail.

* Will make feathers for body w/ fondant then paint, stick them on body.

* What should I make the head and neck out of and how should I support it as the bird will be sitting on the pillow?

* This cake will be traveling about an hour away.

For the neck, try dowell wrapped in fondant/gumpaste mixture. try pushing the dowell all the way through pillow. That's the only idea I have right now.

don't apply head until you get to destination.
