How Do You Cut Stacked Cake?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but how do you cut a stacked cake? Do you remove the top layer or just cut it while on top?

I KNOW MOST PEOPLE REMOVE THEM AND CUT THEM ONE AT A TIME. THAT IS WHAT I DO ANYWAY. BUT I GUESS YOU CAN THEM STACKED AS WELL. NEVER TRIED TO CUT THEM STACKED THOUGH.

I've seen people start with the top layer and then work their way down.
