IS IT NECESSARY TO FREEZE TWO CAKES IF I'M BAKING THEM THURSDAY NIGHT AND FROSTING SATURDAY MORNING FOR A PARTY IN THE EVENING. IN A NUTSHELL I'LL BE BAKING THURSDAY NIGHT AND FROSTING SATURDAY MORNING FOR THE EVENING PARTY.
THANKS FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK.. ![]()
NO--
I'd suggest wrapping really well (about 10 minutes after removing from the hot pan) in saran wrap--that helps keep the moisture in the cake--and then just put it in the fridge--or just keep it in a well cooled place.
Should be fine.
Hope this helps,

THANKS A LOT. BUT IF I WRAP A CHARACTER CAKE WHILE STILL KINDA HOT OR WARM. WON'T THE FEATURES BE MESSED UP IF THE CAKE SWEAT A LITTLE IN THE SARAN WRAP. WHEN TAKING OUT THE SARAN WRAP WON'T THE CAKE KINDA STICK TO IT. IT'S AN ELMO FULL BODY CAKE.
I like working with frozen/thawed cakes better since they are easier to ice. I freeze mine or stick them in the fridge no matter how short of a time frame I have.
IF YOU FROST A FROZEN CAKE OR NOT COMPLETELY THAWED WOULDNT IT MELT THROW THE FROSTING??
No, the cake will develop a certain amount of condensation, but this evaporates quickly, once everything has reached the same temp!
I used to think the same thing--but now, if I can't bake/decorate in the same day, (which never seems to happen with my schedule, anyway) this is how I do it. The character pans work out fine, too.
Hope this helps!
