I have had a request for a wedding cake in december - problem is that it it is not local and the bride tells me she can't find anyone in the area who can do a cake for her. Please could she order a round decorated cake and 150 individually wrapped cake slices for her guests all to fly approx 2 hours with her to her wedding venue. She does not like fondant. Oh and December here is the middle of summer.

My question to you CCer's is the following dare I get involved or do I avoid this one. If I do get involved what cake would be suitable for a wedding and will stand up to the air travel and mid summer heat without the help of fondant??? Not forgetting the 150 pre-packaged slices?

Would appreciate any advice you have to give. Many thanks in advance

Leigh

Sorry, I wouldn't touch that one....no wonder she can't find anyone in her area to do it!

Here's a bump. I have no idea how to help you.

I think this would be easier to fly with than say 3 decorated tiers. I guess it would depend on how you wrapped the ind. slices. If they were all in clear plastic containers, I think they would be fine.

If she doesn't want fondant, then what does she want?
If it's buttercream I would really think twice about that.

look at it this way - it is up to HER to figure out how to get it to where she wants it. just price some solid packaging materials into your costs when you quote her a price.
