How do you cut them?

I'm having a hard time cutting them with a serated knife.

I've seen some people use this mechanism where they put the dowel in this thing and it has a groove for the knife but I wouldn't know where to search for it since I'm not even sure what it's called.

Not sure if I make enough sense on this one. icon_redface.gif

I went to Home Depo and bought a cutter that is used for sprinkler pipes and it works like a charm.

The device you're describing is a miter box. You can buy a mini version for small things like dowels.

I use a good pair of rose cutters/small branch pruners that are dedicated to just wooden cake dowels. They cut things up to about an inch across. They make nice straight, clean cuts and take up a lot less space than the miter box option.

I use the rose cutters too but I'd love to go get one of those dremel cutters. I bet those would work really well...

I actually use dog toenail clippers. The ones where you stick it thru the hole, then squeeze the handle and the blade comes across and clips it. Works very nice. Got mine at a pet store. Jen

Geeze,

You know I had a pair that I never used on my dog but I think we threw them away when he passed. icon_sad.gif

That is a good idea though.

Thanks!
