I'm making a simple groom's cake for my nephew's wedding this weekend and have a few questions. 1. Will the bride and groom cut the groom's cake in the same fashion that the wedding cake is cut? 2. Who cuts the cake (the caterer) and 3. does it get served with the wedding cake?

Thanks so much ...

i think it depends on what the bride and groom want to do. I have seem some grooms that cut it and some that do not.

I would think that after the wedding cake is cut...they will serve both together. icon_smile.gif

It is really up to the couple and what they have worked out. I'd say typically only the bride's cake is cut for pictures. The same people that serve the bride's cake would serve the groom's cake and at the same time.

Traditionally, it's supposed to be a chocolate cake, so....it was another option as opposed to white cake.

Whomever is serving the cake should be the one who cuts it.

They don't cut into it like they do the wedding cake.

It's up to the bride and groom. I have seen them cut the groom's cake together once. Usually they do the cut thing at the bride's cake, then it is cut and served, as is the groom's cake, by whomever is cutting the cake.

The groom's cake is really meant to just have something that really includes the groom in the reception. Back in the day, when I got married, my ex-husband, an Aggie, had a little replica of Kyle Field (the field where the aggies play football) as a groom's cake, and all his friends had to have a piece of that cake! They were all so excited to have that little thing for them at the wedding amongst all the girlie stuff! LOL
