Is there a particular sort of icing needed to make drapes to flow over a cake? I seem to remember reading about but can't recall the make/name of it. icon_redface.gif

I use fondant. There's a really good recipe for Marshmallow Fondant on here that I LOVE. It makes the drapes perfectly.

There is a link somewhere on how to do them of buttercream directly on the cake. I saw it years ago, let me do some searching and see if I can still find it. I make mine of fondant, but the buttercream looked rather pretty too.

AHA! I found it. It was Sandy (sewsweet) who did them with Viva towels and just drew her fingers through the toweling to form the drapes.

And here is a photo of buttercream drapes on a cake.
