WHEW! It's been a long time coming and boy have was I a ball of nerves yesterday!

But here it is! My first wedding cake. And I don't think I want to do that again!

But at least I got rave reviews on the look and especially the taste of the cake. Most of the look compliments were just the usual - Oh that is very nice. But after people started eating it they kept telling me how wonderful it was! So that made me feel great of course! icon_biggrin.gif

It's 6,8,10,12,14. Alternating white (doctored box mix) and chocolate (Chocolate Layer Cake from this website), BC, real roses and ribbon.

Thanks to everyone here at CC that helped me along the way!

Thanks for all the compliments!! icon_smile.gif

I think part of why it will probably be my last is because I cannot afford to get licensed and work in a commercial kitchen. So according to Indiana law I am only allowed to make cakes for friends and family at cost. And With all the work that goes into making a wedding cake and how much time it takes....it just about kills me that I can't charge for my time! I need to focus on my actual at home business of photography.

So cakes will remain a hobby. But thanks again for all the encouraging words!

I gotta say that it's the first pictures that I'm really proud of posting on here!

Oh and did I mention that after I had spent all this time setting up the cake table and got it all filled and looking wonderful, someone from the groom's side of the family came in AFTER all the guests had started to arrive and MOVED some of my stuff out of the way and put a GROCERY STORE half sheet for the "groom's cake" right in front of the cake I had just spent hours putting together??!!?!

Oooo I was mad.

Your cake is beautiful! You did a wonderful job! When we did our first wedding cake, it was actually 2 side cakes with a fountain in the middle and a bridge going over the whole works. When we arrived to set it up, the groom's grandma had a chocolate sheetcake groom's cake and asked if we could please put it on the same table with ours, so the lady who made it wouldn't feel like her cake was being overlooked. We were already concerned with the wedding cake fitting on the table - it was so wide, but told her that we would try! We ended up finding another small table, used some white roll table cloth that we had brought along "just in case" and put it next to the bride's table for the groom's cake. We set out the plates and napkins they had left for it, but we didn't have any other decorations for that table. I really didn't think it was our place to set up a table for a cake we didn't make, but there was no room on the bride's table and the grandma was so sweet I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Afterwards, I was glad we had done it for her, she was so appreciative.
