Is this the kit to get? I'm never attempted these and want to start with the right products. The only class in my area, that I know of, started yesterday so I'm on my own. Are there better kits or books I should use instead? Thanks!

The kit is less of an investment than any other cutters out there. It's not a bad place to start. I found the instructions extremely difficult to follow. I learned by myself using the wilton kit, and instructions from other books. Whatever in the library I coulc get my hands on. Especially Sweet Celebrations by Sylvia Weinstock, and The Well Decorated Cake by Toba Garrett. Also any sugarcraft books. Look up instructions online, I have since found instructions to make gumpaste roses and other flowers.

After you get your feet wet, you can search out other cutters, molds, books, whatever interests you or take the wilton gumpaste class if it is available.

Good luck! It's addictive.
