This is my 4th post today...this cake is driving me crazy! I bought 2lbs Satin Ice fondant and Americolor Dark Chocolate Brown. How much of the Americolor does it take to get the fondant to a chocolate brown color? All I've got so far is a weird pinky brown. Thanks for eveyones help today. CC is very addicting.

I never worked with Americolor but I tried Wilton's dark brown and got the dame result. So I added some black (a little at the time) and it made it darker.

Gee I don't know. I buy brown when I need it. But I do know it will turn darker over night so you may want to let it sit awhile.

I have the small (0.75oz) bottle of Americolor chocolate brown and have used it to colour fondant on 3 cakes so far (easter cake, pirate ship and horse in my photos). I still have about 1/4 bottle left! It will feel like you're adding loads, but just keep adding 3-4 drops at a time (i spread the drops out, so its not one big blob of colour being added) and it will get to a lovely chocolate colour.

p.s. that weird pinky colour that you get to start with, freaked me out the first time too!

I actually threw out my chocolate brown because I didn't like the color either.

I do alot of chocolate brown...you do have to add a little black to get a rich color and let it sit as it will get darker.

I don't know if you want chocolate taste or not, but I added cocoa powder to my fondant with some hazel nut syrup.then started adding brown colour.Hope this helps.

I also do the same as zubia...if you do want chocolate, start that way and it is much easier to get a rich dark color with less paste color.
