Dou Double Layer U'r Sheet Cakes?

Hello, I have a wedding cake to do along with two full sheet cakes, this is the first sheet cake that I have done for a wedding, normally I only use one layer for birthday and shower cakes, do you double layer for a wedding sheet cake?

Normally no, I would consult with the bride and find out how many servings they want out of it. Is it the same order? Some people keep the wedding cake for whatever and use a sheet cake for serving. This be the case, a single layer will do.

Yes, i do two layers, because i like the slice of cake to look the same as the wedding cake. But i do agree consult with the bride (or whoever you are dealing with) about this chances are they will want them doubled.

Now for a regular party cake they are normally one layer.

I layer it and fill it same as the wedding cake, I will even put fondant on it. I wouldn't let the bride and her family look cheap. Plus, I would like people to taste as well as see the cake I make because I would like to have more wedding cake clients. People will see that a single layer on their plate is not the same 4" layered cake that the "special people" are going to be served--who are they serving the wedding cake to anyway?

Of course, price out the sheet cake the same as the wedding cake. It is the same amount of effort and ingredients.

One prob is that the boxes for 1/2 sheet cakes, etc are not tall enough. Just put it on a sturdy board without a box. Assume it will all be eaten, and the tiered cake will be left over. Also, that enables you to make a different size cake than sheet cake, like a 12" or 14" square, whatever size works best.

You can also mark lines for whomever is serving the cake. That way they will not cut 2X2 slices and run out of cake.

yeah, I totally agree here. that would defiantely make the cake more esthetically pleasing.

Thanks for your opinions, I did do a double layer on both full sheet cakes, it didn't take nearly as long as it was easier to smooth out the icing on the sheets than the round cakes. It was in the back room to be served once the wedding cake ran out, so I decided it shouldn't pale in comparison to the main cake.
