I have to make a wedding cake that has quite a few scrolls on it. Is there any thing I can do to make them stronger so they don't break when I go to put them on the cake? I know to make them out of royal icing and let them sit at least a week. Anything else ???
I haven't started to make them yet, but I have made some royal icing snowflakes and had a terrible time with breakage !
Thanks !!!

I put a pic of the cake on. Its from the Wilton 2004 book.

Can't help you on the cake part, but I have a question about your hydrangeas on the cake in your portfolio.

If you made those hydrangeas... how hard were they to make? I'm a serious novice in decorating and my fondant roses look less than perfect. I'm a perfectionist, sort of, so I wonder how many hydrangeas I will have to do to have them look wonderful.

What mold did you use?

May i suggest using gumpaste or fondant for your scrolls. I would use a clay gun to extrude a nice even line, then just form the scroll from that and let set up.
