Hi Everyone,

I am looking at the Wilton cake pans compared to the regular cake pans and I noticed that the reg. pans are smaller than the Wilton (meaning depth) so I am wondering...when I make my cake do I need to use 2 boxes of cake mix or can I still use one box of cake mix with the Wilton pans? I have the 10x2 round pan.

I hope this isn't confusing for anyone. Thanks for your help!

Veronica

You really only need 1 1/2 mix to fill the 10x2. I would make cup cakes out of the rest. If you have children they will love you for it.

Another option is to use an extender recipe. I love doing that.

I have 10" Wilton pans (2" high) and I always use one mix per pan.
Some mixes have a larger yield but as a general rule one mix per 10" x 2" pan works fine.

Thanks everyone for your help! What is an extender recipe?

Here is a link for the 2 extender recipes on here.

I have used the first one and added a box of instant pudding that compliments the cake flavor, and it is delicious! Jen

Thanks Newbeebaker,

I have added pudding to my cakes before but never knew what an extender was. Thanks a lot everyone!
