.. .how long before a cake goes "bad" or is ruined if made too early ?

tomorrow is mothers day & im a beginning baker.
i'd like to make an extravagant cake for my mom tomorrow but is right now too early?
i'm just so impatient due to the excitement of starting!

can anyone help me out?
i'll be using fondant, mango/or some tropical fruit with whipped icing & a yellow cake base.

Thanks ! :]

Go ahead and do it I always bake and decorate one day deliver the next. Sometimes even two days depending when cake is needed.

You'll be fine. I usually bake on Thursday and decorate Friday for a Saturday cake.
