I am making my first doll cake and I have a barbie doll to use. It is sort of a family joke for a senior graduating this year. For those of you who use actual dolls not just pics, do you push the legs of the doll into the cake or take them off at the waist and use a dowel or something to hold the doll in. I have my doll pan baked with an 8 inch under it and am afraid to push the legs in!!!!!!!!HELP all you brilliant people at CC!!!!!!!!!TIA

I've only used the doll picks but have read many times on this site that you can use the real Barbie by wrapping the legs in saran wrap but will probably will need an extra cake below to allow for the length of the legs. Sounds as if you got that covered, please post as we would love to see your cake!

For the one that I have posted I used a full body Barbie and wrapped her legs tightly in Saran Wrap, I then wrapped a paper towel roll in saran so it was completely covered and put her legs in that to push down in the cake.
I did use two 8 inch rounds cut to the size of the dress part of the cake to make room for her height.
Hope it works for you!

Well, my cake was not quite tall enough, so poor Barbie got broken in half and I hot glued a dowel up through...poor baby icon_lol.gif but, it is going to be great. Thanks for your help.....Donna
