I had recently posted my idea for a father's day cake making a tool box. I need to know what to put the cake on. Also the marshmallow fondant recipe sounds great. How do I make the fondant different colors? I am using it to make the tools. How many 9X13 cakes should I make? I want it to be somewhat tall. My husband likes the white icing you buy from the store. However I would like to make a homemade icing. I though about coolwhip with pecans to seperate the layers. It is going to be a spice cake. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for your help
Kim

I have used two different methods for coloring the mmf. If I am making one batch of all the same color I simply mix in my color while its mixing, when the marshmallow is still slightly liquidy. But if I am making several different colors out of a single batch ( to make assorted small accents of different colors for example) I knead in each color individuallly when the MMF is finished. You should wear some thin rubber gloves if you can, but if not your hands may after time be a bit stained... people were just talking about how to get it off... Use a teensy bit of shortening if you need to to get the colors to blend well and I also warm the MMF up a bit in the microwave Good luck
