Is there anything out there that I can get information about how to work with fondant? I have just started using it and I only use it for accent pieces right now. But I need to know is there a way to dry fondant quickly? A shortcut of someway?? Also when do you put on luster dust? After it is completely dry or can you do it while drying??
I am making a number "30" tonight in fondant and I would like to use luster dust to paint it silver, but the cake needs to be picked up by 4:30 tomorrow. I'm not sure what I should do. Should I just scrap the idea and do something else?
Help anyone!
I added Gum-Tex to my fondant not long ago which helped it dry quicker. I also kept the air cool and ran a fan on it just to be sure! It might depend on how thick your number is too. As for the painting of luster dust, I'm thinking it would be fine to apply it at any point but then again, I'm not as familiar with that as I'd like to be. I say go for it and if it's not hard enough by the time you need to use it, go for plan B or lay it on the cake instead of standing or prop it up on some flowers (if you're using flowers) or something else that'll go with the theme of your cake. Don't forget to upload!!!!! Best of luck to you!!!

Make a spare 30 and try this, place it flat on an oven sheet at 100C (not sure what that is in F), which is the lowest setting on my oven for 10 minutes. Take it out and let it cool completely. That will help it to dry out a lot.
Gumpaste would be better- do the same thing.
To paint, mix luster dust with clear alcohol and it will be fine. I have used it on wet and dry fondant, just depends on the result you want.
Hope this helps!
