Icing - Shiny Glace Look With Royal Icing Drying Ability?

Hello all,
Do you know of any recipes that can give your cookies that shiny glace icing look but that will dry like a thinned royal icing? I have used a glace recipe several times (not Toba's but one from a book I have) and after waiting more than 24 hours (sometimes even 48 hours) they never really dry 100%. But all the royal icing recipes I've tried dry dull and sometimes look chalky.
Thanks!
I've always notice the same thing! The glace icing looks awesome but stays tacky to the touch and royal icing goes on beautifully and dries rather quickly but also loses it's shine quickly. I've heard many people say that they add a very small amount of corn syrup to their royal icing recipe and it adds shine. Now, I've never personally tried it but why wouldn't it work? Sounds good to me. If you do not add too much corn syrup (like the glace icing) then the drying time would be quicker - plus, the meringue powder in the royal icing makes for a quicker drying time also.
I've started using dry fondant for my icing & like the taste much better than Toba's or the other modified royal. Use approx 10 parts fondant to 1 part water, add flav.
I have used the dry fondant for icing also and love the taste. However, I have problems with the colors bleeding by the second day. ![]()

Doesn't Wilton's ColorFlow recipe also dry hard with a shine?
I have used Toba's glace' recipe on my cookies and they dry with a shine in about 1 day. I usually ice them one evening and then start decorating the next evening. I also use orange or almond extract on vanilla cookies just to give it a little bit of a different taste.
I prefer this icing because it doesn't get too hard to bite into like the royal.
