Here is a great tutorial by Cake_Princess...

Hey Kat--
I use cardboard or cardstock to draw my pattern on--it may be freehand or copied from a pattern. I use a very sharp paring knife to cut my cookies and make sure the dough is cold.
Ditto. I do the same. I use cardstock and a small sharp paring knife.

paring knife eh?! i don't know what they are, but i do remember seeing some at the dollar store. think they'd be any good?!
It's just a small, sharp knife with a point (not rounded like a dinner knife). It also has a smooth blade, without any serrated edges. Any knife like that should be fine.

Dollar store paring knives are good because they are more flimsy. ![]()

gotta submit my medieval cookies to the gallery. ( I used a cardstock pattern for my shield, an easy cut-out though)
