I am making the "angels watching over thee" cake (from the Wilton 2001 book) which will be covered in BC and has a bunch of color flow decorations on top. It has a window frame, curtains, angels and cradle that are made in colorflow.

I have never worked with colorflow before... I have all the pieces made already. The cake is for my niece's baptism at the end of June.

Do I really need to place the colorflow pieces on top of sugar cubes/marshmallows?

Anyone out there that has made this particular cake?

Any other ideas or tips?? Any help would be really appreciated.

The only color flow I've ever done was back in my Wilton II class. But I seem to remember though that the reason for the sugar cubes and/or marshmallows is that BC will break down color flow rather quickly.

I asked the exact same question a week ago. i am making a grad cake with colorflow cap and scroll. I also did the wilton bird cake and the color flow peices were fine. anyways, i got a couple responses from people about this, and theysaid it takes ATLEAST 24 hours for the peices to start to break down. So just set the peices on there before you deliver or whatever it is your doing wiht it. and it should be perfect. Oh yah, my wilton instructor just had us position our bird on our cakes and put a few buttercream leaves in front and in back to it would hold up, its in my pics if you want to see. So obviously she wasnt worried about them breaking down, and she does colorflow all the time, she bakes cakes for people from home. hope that helps ya out!

Thanks for your tips. I think will go ahead and place the colorflow pieces on the cake on the day of the baptism. I'll post a picture when I am done.

Thanks again!
