In place of the mohair you can use strips of fondant.

That's all I could find for now.

I make mine from fondant mixed with a little gumtex or gumpaste for more elasticity. 100% fondant dosn't work. My faries have rice paper wings and are 2" tall. Tinkerbell is also 2" tall but has gelitan wings. I like that effect better.

use cupcakes cut in half and fill cover with colored fondant pleating at the bottom and tucking underneath. Make several pleats at the base fo each cup cake in order to create a puff-ball effect skirt. Roll out fondant thinly and cut scalloped circles using a cutter stick in on top of cup cakes position. model and oval shape body and stick into positionpinching gently to narrow the waist push a stickdownthrougheach of the bodies to help hold the head in place make sleeves and arms add the head and decorate. Hope this helps better info in Enchanted Cakes for Children by Debbie Brown step by step instructions.
