I was just browsing through the gallery and sinfullydelicious has one that has gel dots- it is a beautiful cake..........what are gel dots and how do you make them? I am thinking about changing my edible pearl design on the cake for this weekend to those if they are fairly simple for an amateur like me! icon_rolleyes.gif

sounds to me like it's maybe just a dot of piping gel ?

I'm pretty sure by looking at the cake that she just used piping gel and made dots with that. Piping gel is clear which is what it looks like she used. Just pipe dots with a tip 2 or 3. Piping gel is pretty goooooeeee so be careful when you put it in the piping bag - it may oooooze a little but it should stand up fine on the cake. I'd do a practice dot just to make sure.
