I want to try covering a cake with MMF, never did it before. I have a 6" round cake that is 3" high. So I'm guessing I need to be able to roll out a circle that's approx. 14" in diameter.

The recipe I have for MMF uses 1 cup of mini marshmallows. How many batches do you think I need to make to make a 14" circle?

I'd like to be close or over since I want to add the color before adding the powdered sugar and don't want to have to try to match it later.

Thanks.

I've used MMF once and I'll tell you what happened...

One of my batches covered a 9 in cake, and I had left overs to make a few decorations. I think you'll be fine with only one batch of MMF.

On Wilton.com they have a chart that tells you how large to roll out your fondant for the size of cake. I found this..http://www.wilton.com/wedding/makecake/fondant/index.cfm I can't find the cart. I'll keep looking.

Thanks, in the batch that you made did you use 1 cup of mini marshmallows or the whole bag?

Edited to add: I did look up the Wilton site but it gives the amount needed in ounces (as in purchasing the pre-made fondant from them). Didn't help much.

Did you finish your batch of MMF? Curious if you would make MMF again.
(Texture, consistency, wrinkle, crack?)

There are a couple different recipes floating around, that's why I asked.

I was thinking 1 cup of mini mm's wouldn't be enough to do much with. Thanks, I'll use the whole bag and see what happens thumbs_up.gif
