Ok I just got a call from my 2nd paying customer so first off WAHOO. Second the only thing they said they wanted was an Incredible Hulk cake for a 4 yr old to feed like 30 ppl.

I looked in the gallery already and was wanting additional ideas PLEASE> I thought about making a building w/ graham crackers and having the Hulk 'smash' it, but need some more inspiration. I wanted to present at least a couple of ideas to them... I was really wanting to WOW them but at the same time not be extremely difficult (if that makes sense)...
Thanks in advance for your help...

You coould choose a picture from a coloring book and do a Frozen Buttercream transfer on a 11 X 15. Easy to do but always impresses the client.

unfortunatly I dont have a picture but at the first place I worked at we made the green hulf fists smashing up through a cake wall.

I dont know if your a cake sculptor but the fists wouldnt be too hard and little jaggedy cake bricks are pretty easy.

good luck and congrats on your second customer!

I looked at the pic that someone posted above, and if you were going to do that same or similar pose, I'd suggest a Wondermold body, mini-ball pan for the head, and for sculpting the muscles in the chest and arms. Carve a bit to get a better shape for what you want, then build up areas that need it with buttercream and smooth with the VIVA method. Use fondant accents for facial features.

When my son was little, one of the first cakes I ever made was the HULK smashing a 3-D car. I think the picture is here somewhere in the 'worst cakes' thread. But the idea itself was still pretty good! I used one of the large figures and the 3-D car pan. I put it on top of a sheet cake. You could be more creative with a road or grass and maybe even put a little person or dog running from the car.

You're welcome redhare and thanks KHalstead thumbs_up.gif

It's not hard and I'd love to see one turned into Hulk. I think it'd be fantastic! A member here turned one into Darth Vader and used a Halloween type mask for the face. That might work for the Hulk too.

Okay let me try to remember, I made it like 2 years ago so bear with me.

We made a half sheet cake and chopped some into rectangular "bricks". Other pieces we cut with a jagged edge like it broke in two. We iced them in a reddish brown buttercream and let them sit in the fridge while we worked on the fists.

The fist were rounds stacked : 7" x 3 layers (place plastic straws in to support your next layers and set a 5" white board on top of this) next was a 6" x 3 layers, do the dowels again and a 4" white board. Then you can either use cake layers to build a fist, a ball of cake or if you feel confidant working with styrofoam make a fist out of that.

Carve this tower of cake into the arms with the fist on top. The idea came from those green hulk fist that they sell in toy stores. We bought them so we could see what we were carving...that and we each took a fist and started punching each other but thats beside the point.

We covered the fists in green fondant and placed them on a board. If these are too tall for you to feel comfertable trasporting you can always make em fatter but shorter. Use pvc pipe tape and Hot clue to secure these into palce. One fist should be taller then the other or do one as a fist and the other as a hand that would be laying on the bricks it just smashed as if gripping to climb out.

Around the fist build the wall. Fit bricks together and use white buttercream as the morter. Place the the jagged pices around the fists and some laying on the board. If you rub the buttercream with your fingers this will help darken some of the buttercream so there will be more demension to the bricks. Remember to add the mortor to the broken pieces too in a funky way to give it the broken look too.

If they want a message on the cake write it on a brick with your mortor buttercream.

I hope this helps you visualize.

Oh and if you dont want to use fondant you can use the green buttercream but make sure to smooth with your hands once its had to give it the dimensional effect as well like with the bricks.

Oh Lisa that's a cool Darth Vader - my dh would love that!

Hula_girl thanks for the instructions I see it now - sorry I'm a little slow and in fact once reading it, I was still a bit confused so I went and grabbed my cake pans and stacked them and went DUHHHHHH - I can be such a blonde sometimes (even though I'm not technically a blonde - but I do have a natural blonde streak so I blame it ALL on the streak icon_wink.gif LOL)

Now to figure costs so I can talk w/ the customer I hate that part! SIGH
